NBA Sports Betting Picks: Detroit Pistons at Dallas Mavericks

The Detroit Pistons will look to shake their early road troubles when they pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks. Diamond Sportsbook International (DSI) has the latest NBA betting odds for this game and has listed the Mavericks as 9.5 point favorites with the total set at 190.

The schedule is not currently kind to the Mavericks as they start a challenging four-game, five-night stretch starts with the Detroit Pistons. After Detroit tonight, the Mavericks hit the road to face the Thunder on Wednesday and the Spurs on Friday, with a Thanksgiving dinner planned for the team on Thursday. It makes for a long and grueling trip during the holidays.

The Pistons are starting to play much better after a slow start and off an overtime victory against the Washington Wizards. The turnaround can be attributed to a handful of players including Charlie Villanueva. After signing a huge contract when he signed with the Pistons he struggled and found himself on the bench playing as a role player. He is averaging 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds off the bench, and playing tenacious defense. This strong play could warrant a starting position for Villanueva, but for now he is content to do his part.

Even though the Pistons have struggled on the road this year they have seemingly always played well in Dallas and against the spread. Bettors have profited from backing the Pistons on the road as they are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games. The Pistons are 6-2 against the spread (ATS) in the last eight meetings in Dallas and the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four games between these two teams.

The Mavericks are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 against the Eastern Conference, 4-20-2 ATS in their last 26 home games against a team with a losing road record, and 6-21-2 ATS in their last 29 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5.

The Mavericks are struggling on the offensive side of the floor and that will allow the Pistons to keep this game close.
