The MAC West crown very well could be essentially handed out on Tuesday night at the Glass Bowl, where NCAA football betting fans will witness the Northern Illinois Huskies try to take down the Toledo Rockets.
The Huskies had high hopes this year in the MAC, but the truth of the matter is that they are in a lot of trouble just for getting into a bowl game right now. If the team loses this game, it is all but certain to be eliminated from title contention in the conference, and at just 5-4, NIU would probably have to win out just to have a chance of qualifying for a bowl game. Remember that last year, 8-4 Temple was left out of a bowl, and MAC schools are traditionally treated horribly during the bowl season because they don’t travel well. The good news for the Huskies is that they have played well of late, taking care of three straight games thanks to some huge offensive numbers. The team has scored over 40 points six times this season, and it is averaging 38.5 points and 463.2 yards per game. QB Chandler Harnish is a true dual threat, and unlike most running quarterbacks, he really does have the arm to kill these MAC defenses. Harnish has 1,697 passing yards with 12 TDs on the year, and he also has 738 yards and eight scores on the ground.
The Rockets are the only team that is still undefeated in the MAC this year, but at just 5-3, they can’t possibly feel safe about this whole bowl situation either quite yet. A win in this game would essentially make it so one more win would lock up the MAC West and guarantee a bowl bid, but a loss and things could get quite hairy. Expect to see a slew of players touch the rock for Toledo in this one. QBs Austin Dantin and Terrance Owens are two very similar quarterbacks, and the two have combined for 1,959 passing yards, 16 TDs, just three INTs, and 213 yards and a TD on the ground. Speaking of the ground game, that’s where RBs Morgan Williams, David Fluellen, and Adonis Thomas do their work. None have even 500 rushing yards thus far on the campaign, but all of them have at least 300 yards and three trips to the end zone. WR Eric Page is one to watch as well. He has 655 receiving yards and four scores with a whopping 65 receptions.
Northern Illinois Huskies @ Toledo Rockets Pick: In the end, we expect to see a whole mess load of points in this game. Neither of these teams have particularly versed defenses, and both offenses have proven to be able to score on the best teams in the land. It’s an awfully high number, but it’s hard to not see this one into the 70s.
