NCAA Football Betting Props- Player Performances
The start of the 2012 college football season is just a week away but there is still plenty of time to make a few final wagers on a number of prop bets tied into this year’s games. A good starting point would be to check out BetOnline Sportsbook’s extensive list of prop bets for individual player performances. The following is a look at a few that caught our eye.
The South Carolina running back returns to the field this season after suffering a torn ACL that required surgery last year, but all indications point towards a full recovery and return to form. The following are the money lines for a double result that includes total rushing yards and touchdowns
Over 1360 rushing yards/Over 16 rushing TD’s +210
Over 1360 rushing yards/Under 16 rushing TD’s +275
Under 1360 rushing yards/Over 16 rushing TD’s +300
Under 1360 rushing yards/Under 16 rushing TD’s +150
Lattimore was on his way to putting up some huge numbers before going down last year, so if his knee is close to 100 percent as everyone is saying, the sky should be the limit this season. If he rushes for over 1360 yards he is going to find himself in the end zone quite a bit so the Over/Over is the solid play here.
Total Passing Yards by Landry Jones
Jones enters his senior year at Oklahoma with high expectations after a somewhat disappointing run in 2011. The Sooners went 10-3 overall but all three losses came in Big 12 play. This year’s team returns 18 starters from that squad. It is not only and even money 1/1 favorite to win the conference, it is one of the top five favorites to win a national title. The following are the money lines for his passing yards total.
Over 4000 passing yards -115
Under 4000 passing yards -115
Given that the money lines are even take the Over all the way in this prop. Landry has been the fulltime starter for two seasons and lit things up as a sophomore with 4,718 yards passing in 2010 and came back with 4,463 yards last season. Even if he takes a minor step backwards this season, Jones should throw for well over 4000 yards.
Kenny Stills Double Result
If Jones is going to throw for over 4000 yards, there is going to have to be someone on the receiving end of quite a few of those yards. The Sooners’ primary target in the passing game this season is wide receiver Kenny Stills. He played in the shadow of Ryan Broyles last season until Broyles went down with a knee injury and has the spotlight all to himself this year. The following are the money line odds for a double result that includes total receiving yards and touchdowns.
Over 1150 receiving yards/Over 11 receiving TD’s +200
Over 1150 receiving yards/Under 11 receiving TD’s +275
Under 1150 receiving yards/Over 11 receiving TD’s + 300
Under 1150 receiving yards/Under 11 receiving TD’s +160
With Broyles gone the over on both appears to be the solid play, but when you dig a bit deeper into the actual numbers you have to take into account the use of back-up quarterback Blake Bell in short yardage situations. He only ran for 171 yards on 44 carries, but 13 of them were for touchdowns. Stills will get his yards through the air, but he may not find the end zone as often as you may think. Go with the Over/Under in this prop.
