The Stanley Cup Playoffs will continue on Tuesday night in NHL betting action when the Pittsburgh Penguins play host to the New York Rangers on NBC Sports Network at 7:00 p.m. ET on the ice inside the CONSOL Energy Center. This will be the deciding seventh game of the series with the Penguins coming in as ‘favorites’ to move onto the next round.

The Rangers got a 3-1 win on their home ice Sunday night over the Penguins to force this do-or-die situation in Pittsburgh. It was an emotional night for New York LW Martin St. Louis as he is still grieving the death of his mother last Thursday. St. Louis got the scoring started just 3:34 into the game as he gave his team a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later Carl Hagelin struck for a two goal lead that the home team wouldn’t relinquish. As we predicted G Henrik Lundqvist had another big game as he made 36 saves on 37 shots he saw from the Pens. Lundqvist played a key role in Game 7 of the series with the Philadelphia Flyers as he had 26 saves in a 2-1 win that sent New York to the second round back on April 30th. The Rangers have this head-to-head stat in their favor as road teams are 5-2 SU in the L/7 meetings which includes their home win on Sunday. Their chances all rest on the shoulders of Lundqvist and a rejuvenated offensive unit that has woken up at the right time.

The Penguins have dropped the last two games in this series to blow a 3-1 lead when it appeared they were well on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Now it is their offensive attack that seems to have gone into hibernation at the worst possible time as they managed just two goals in the last couple of games. Brandon Sutter had the only goal for Pittsburgh in Game 6 and it came in the first period. It outshot New York 37-29 in the game, but couldn’t get anything into the net. Pens G Marc-Andre Fleury has also been off of late as he saved just 26-of-29 shots he saw on Sunday. He must stand tall in this contest as his team tries to successfully defend their home ice for just the second time in this series. Pittsburgh C Sidney Crosby is the team’s leading offensive player, however he has been nowhere to be found in this series with just one goal and two assists to his credit. It will be up to Crosby to get things going in Game 7 where he must show why he makes the big bucks.

The Penguins have all the pressure in the world on them to win this game and enter the Eastern Conference Finals. They are 13-6 SU in their L/19 meetings with the Rangers and have worked hard to have home ice advantage in Game 7’s of these playoffs. We feel as if the all-star caliber players on the Pittsburgh squad will band together to win this game in front of a boisterous crowd at the CONSOL Energy Center. Look for this to be a battle from the start with Fleury slightly outshining Lundqvist to get his team onto the next round. New York Rangers @ Pittsburgh Penguins Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins
