Just when the Red Sox thought things couldn’t get any worse, the team falls to a whole new low. Boston led 9-0 in the sixth inning yesterday against the Yankees, but the Bronx Bombers put on a ridiculous offensive clinic in the final few innings to win 15-9. Can Boston salvage a game in this important series of the will the Yankees sweep the hated Red Sox at Fenway Park?

C.C. Sabathia is the Ace of the New York pitching staff, but he hasn’t been very good so far this year. Sabathia has a 5.59 ERA so far in 2012. He did pitch his best game so far this year last time out against the Twins, so the team hopes he is on the right path now. The Yankees pitchers strike out a lot of people, but they are also wild and give up a lot of free passes.

After yesterday’s amazing offensive performance, the Yankees average 6.00 runs per game. They lead Major League Baseball in home runs with 27. Mark Teixeira belted two home runs and drove in six yesterday. Derek Jeter is off to his best start in years. Jeter leads the team with a .382 batting average, and he already has four home runs this year. He had just six all of last season. As they showed yesterday, the Yankees can put up the runs in bunches.

No team has been more disappointing so far this year than the Boston Red Sox. They finished off last season with a massive collapse, and the team chemistry seems to be lacking thus far in 2012. Daniel Bard will be on the hill for the Red Sox. Bard has been one of the team’s best relievers the last few years, but the team is working him into the starting rotation this year. Bard has good stuff, but he needs to stop walking so many batters. He has walked 8 batters in less than 12 innings pitched. Overall, the Boston pitching staff is last in the majors by a mile in almost every category. The Red Sox team ERA is a miserable 6.68.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford are both on the disabled list right now. Kevin Youkilis is questionable for this one after getting hurt in yesterday’s game. The offense has been pretty good overall, but they have been inconsistent. David Ortiz is hitting .436 and he has knocked in 12 runs already this season.

The Red Sox are almost unbettable at this point. Both offenses are tremendous and I expect plenty of runs again in this one. The over is 5-0 in Sabathia’s last 5 starts. The over is 9-2-1 in the Red Sox last 12 home games.
