NFL Betting – Hall of Fame Game: Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals Preview
NFL betting fans have been looking forward to this one since Super Bowl XLIV was completed, and kickoff is finally here! NFL preseason betting action finally kicks off on Sunday night at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, OH, as the Dallas Cowboys meet the Cincinnati Bengals in the annual Hall of Fame Game.
The Cowboys enter this game with a ton of promise for a successful 2010 campaign. 2009 was a great year even though they were bounced out of the second round of the playoffs. However, QB Tony Romo earned his first playoff victory by taking down Dallas’ divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles to start the postseason. This year, Romo is going to have a ton of great options to try to get the pigskin to. Even though the starting signal caller for the Boys inevitably won’t be playing much, backup QBs Stephen McGee and Jon Kitna will be throwing to the likes of TE Jason Witten, TE Marcellus Bennett, WR Miles Austin, WR Roy Williams, WR Dez Bryant, WR Patrick Crayton, and WR Sam Hurd, all of which are vying for plenty of time in the starting lineup.
The Bengals aren’t going to go quietly into the night this week either. Especially if HC Marvin Lewis is preparing for a potential suspension to RB Cedric Benson, there could be plenty of passes early in this game. QB Carson Palmer is coming off of one of the worst seasons of his career and has the bad taste in his mouth from back-to-back lousy performances to end his 2009 NFL betting campaign. Now, with new targets in WR Terrell Owens, WR Antonio Bryant, and TE Jermaine Gresham to work with, Palmer and his reserves, Jordan Palmer and JT O’Sullivan could be winging the ball all over the field.
Both of these teams were fairly average last preseason, so it’s going to be hard to tell which one, if either, will really care about picking up the ‘W’ in this game. We tend to believe that both teams are going to be fairly open on offense though, and the end result might be a shootout be preseason standards. Both teams could find their way into the mid to high teens on Sunday night, which would be more than enough to send this game ‘over’ the low ‘total’. Don’t be afraid to tease either side with the ‘over’ as well, as this should also be a relatively tight one.
Selection: Dallas/Cincinnati Over 32.5
