NFL Betting Strategies Week 5: Home Sweet Home?
The NFL heads into Week 5 with several teams starting to separate from the pack as contenders and one of those teams is the San Francisco 49ers. After losing to the Minnesota Vikings, the 49ers traveled to the east coast to completely dismantle the New York Jets.
Now the San Francisco 49ers head home to host the Bills. The Bills were ambushed by a non-stop, high-octane New England offense that exploded in the second half on the way to a blowout of the Bills. The Bills have to regroup and attempt to lift their heads and spirits as the head to the west coast to battle San Francisco.
As expected the 49ers are big favorites in this game as the opening line has the home team favored by nine points and that number could easily reach double-digits by game time. However the 49ers travel schedule is interesting to note in this game. The Sunday matchup will be a homecoming of sorts for the 49ers. After losing to the Vikings, coach Jim Harbaugh set up camp in the Midwest so traveling to the east coast would not take a toll on his team.
This extra preparation seemed to work with the convincing win; however it did keep players away from home. Because of the time away from home, the players will be faced with distractions when finally getting back home and this will hinder the game planning.
The Bills on the other hands are thrilled to get away from home to tray and forget the performance from a week ago. The Bills offense is formidable with Fred Jackson back and healthy in the backfield with CJ Spiller. Their defense is better than they played last week and they will have the ability to keep it close against a distracted 49 team enjoying the benefits of returning home.
NFL Pick for week 5 is the Buffalo Bills
