NFL Consensus: A Look at the Week 7 Public Trends
The NFL is the most popular sport to wager on in the world and with that in mind; the consensus becomes a very valuable report. Every week the numbers are compiled at bang the book.com, showing the wagers that the public are on the most. Those are the same wagers that should be a play against for the smart sports bettor.
It all starts in the game between the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Rams. Aaron Rodgers dazzled a nationally televised audience by tossing for six touchdowns against a very difficult Houston Texans defense. This would attract more than the usual amount of public betting fans on the packers in week 8. The Packers are currently grabbing a whopping 94 percent of the betting action for this game. That does not mean the St. Louis Rams are a play for this week, but it is something to consider when going into this weekend of action.
The Dallas Cowboys are next checking in at 88 percent over the Carolina Panthers and that means that the two most popular picks on the board for week 7 are road teams. The home team with the most amounts of wagers this week is the Oakland Raiders who are receiving 86 percent of the action against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The public likes to bet on favorites so it is rare that the chalk will get less of the public betting, but that is exactly what is going on in the game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. Tom Brady and the Patriots are listed as 10.5 point favorites over the Jets and the public believes that is too much. The latest report shows that only 44 percent of the people are on the Patriots.
This is a quick look at the NFL Consensus report which should be a guide to how you wager this week in the NFL.
