Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers (-3.5) Odds by VietBet
The new -look Arizona Cardinals will try and make it two in-a-row when they take on the defending Super Champion Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field this Friday night. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. and it will be broadcast locally.
The Kevin Kolb era got underway last Thursday night with Arizona knocking off Oakland 24-18 as a 3.5-point road underdog in its 2011 preseason opener. The Cardinals trailed by one late in this game, but a 28-yard touchdown pass from Max Hall to Isaiah Williams with less than a minute to play gave Arizona the six-point win. The total went ‘over’ the 33-point line.
The fanfare surrounding Kolb’s arrival will undoubtedly continue to grow, after the former Philadelphia signal-caller completed 4-of-7 attempts for 68 yards including two passes to WR Larry Fitzgerald, in two series of action against the Raiders. While he came away scoreless in his debut, his arm strength and accuracy looked good. RB Alonzo Smith also looked sharp for Arizona with five carries for 30 yards.
Green Bay started its preparation for its title defense with a 27-17 loss to Cleveland as a 2.5 road underdog this past Saturday. The Packers scored all 17 points in the first two quarters as the Browns pounded out a 13-0 edge in the second half. The total went ‘over’ the 35.5-point line.
Aaron Rodgers picked up where he left off last season with a 21-yard scoring strike to WR Greg Jennings in the first quarter. He finished the night completing 6-of-8 for 74 yards in limited action. The only real concern on Green Bay’s end should be how easily second-year QB Colt McCoy was able to move the Browns with the majority of the Packers starting defense on the field. Look for head coach Mike McCarthy to try dial-up a little more pressure on Kolb to keep the Cardinals’ offense from doing the same.
This game means much more to Arizona than it does to Green Bay, as the Packers already know what they have on both sides of the ball, while the Cardinals are still searching for answers in a number of different spots in their lineup.
My NFL Pick: Arizona 23 Green Bay 21
