Point spread: New Orleans -7
The New York Giants will look to snap a two-game skid this Monday night when they travel to the Big Easy for a crucial NFC tilt with the New Orleans Saints at Superdome. The game is set to get underway at 8:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
New York is a team that just cannot stand success. After an impressive 24-20 victory over New England as a nine-point road underdog in Week 10, it came up just short in 27-20 loss to San Francisco as a four-point road dog the following Sunday. To make matters worse it returned a favor to Philadelphia by a blowing a fourth-quarter lead as a six-point home favorite in a 17-10 loss this past Sunday night.
The Giants are now a precarious 6-4 straight-up (4-5-1 against the spread) and tied with Dallas for the lead in the NFC East. If they do not get back to playing Giants’ football starting with this game, they could easily find themselves on the outside looking in for the playoffs for the second straight year.
New Orleans has been another team that has been hard to figure out this season, but appears to be gearing-up for a deep run in the playoffs with a pair of division wins that raised its record to 7-3 SU (6-4 ATS) before last week’s bye.
The one thing that has been constant for the Saints this season is an offense that can move the ball through the air and put points on the board. Drew Brees has already passed for 3,326 yards and 23 touchdowns and New Orleans is ranked second in the NFL in scoring with an average of 31.3 points a game.
The Giants are 3-7 ATS in their last seven games against the NFC and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of their last 13 games as an underdog.
The Saints are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as home favorites and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven Monday night games.
The favorite is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in five of the last eight meetings. The Giants desperately need this game, but New Orleans is a perfect 4-0 SU at home this season and few teams defend their home turf better than the Saints especially coming off a bye.
