NFL Week 17: Top Betting Trends
The last week of the NFL season is very difficult to handicap and it requires in-depth research as teams are preparing to make a run to win a Super Bowl. One of the most often overlooked angles in the NFL is the sports betting trends. While the betting trends should not be used exclusively as a tool to pick winners, it should be a part of the overall research process. Trends can point out an angle that may have been over looked in the past.
Here is a look at some important NFL betting trends heading into the last week of the NFL regular season.
The hottest team in the league is the Seattle Seahawks are they are crushing the opposition by double digits and this is a good reason why they are 10 point chalk against the St. Louis Rams this weekend. However the trends indicate that this could be a soft spot for this team. The Rams are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a win of more than 14 points and 6-2 ATS when facing a team with a winning record. They may not be the only team in jeopardy of getting upset this week.
The Green Bay Packers travel to Minnesota to play the suddenly surprising Vikings. The Vikings need the win to go to the playoffs, but the trends show they could lose to the Packers. The Vikings are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game and 6-13 ATS following a win.
Finally the Cowboys and the Redskins face off on Sunday Night Football and the trends indicate that the edge is to the underdog. The underdog is 23-6 ATS in their last 29 meetings and that looks good for the Cowboys.
Trends do not always tell the entire picture but they are important in handicapping Week 17 in the NFL.
