New England (5-1 SU, 3-2-1 ATS) almost blew a game at San Diego last week after leading 23-6 in the fourth quarter. Moss was traded to Minnesota a few weeks ago as he was unhappy about his contract. Coach Bill Belichick felt the situation would only get worse.
Minnesota (2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS) has its second tough road game in a row. On Sunday night, Brett Favre and company lost 28-24 at his old stomping grounds in Green Bay. Favre has two fractures in his ankle and is questionable. The spread is off-the-board with Tarvaris Jackson the backup.
The New York Jets (5-1 SU, 5-1 ATS) will host Green Bay coming off a bye-week. They’re tied with New England and Pittsburgh for the best record in the AFC (and the NFL). The Jets are 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games, with the ‘over’ going 5-0.
Green Bay (4-3 SU, 3-4 ATS) is still high off the Minnesota win. This is a team with a lot of injuries and the offense has averaged just 15 PPG the last two road games at Washington and Chicago. Going against the great Jets’ defense won’t help and that’s why they’re six-point dogs.
Pittsburgh (5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS) got a fortunate officiating call that allowed them to escape with a 23-22 win at Miami. They did fail to ‘cover’ the three-point spread. The Steelers are at defending champion New Orleans on Sunday night.
New Orleans is underachieving from a SU (4-3) and ATS (2-5) perspective. A home loss last week versus Cleveland was unacceptable and the home crowd will demand a great performance on Sunday. This spread is Even odds.
Buffalo (0-6 SU, 2-4 ATS) is the only winless NFL team. They blew a 24-10 lead at Baltimore, losing 37-34 in overtime. The Bills are at Kansas City, who’s in first place in the AFC West (4-2 SU) and who bettors love (5-1 ATS). The Chiefs are 7 ½-point ‘chalk.’
Dallas is just 1-5 SU and ATS and their season appears grim with quarterback Tony Romo (collarbone) out 6-8 weeks. However, they’re still seven-point home favorites over Jacksonville (3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS). Quarterback David Garrard (concussion) could return this week against Dallas backup Jon Kitna.
Denver (2-5 SU, 2-5 ATS) will play San Francisco (1-6 SU 2-5 ATS) in London in a game not likely to generate tons of interest ‘across the pond.’ That game is Even odds.
Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Baltimore and the NY Giants are on a bye-week.
