NCAA Basketball Pick – November 27th

The time is here for the Indiana Hoosiers to prove themselves against some of the elite competition that the college basketball betting world has to offer. The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming to town, and they’re going to be bringing a very talented team eyeing an upset in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The Heels don’t quite feeling a cohesive team, but at least they are bringing an 8-3 ATS mark in their last 11 games against Big Ten teams into this game. The squad revolves around F James Michael McAdoo, who has averaged 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this year. He and G Marcus Paige are turning the ball over a ton though, as these two men have 42 turnovers in six games between them, and that just won’t cut it. G Dexter Strickland and G Reggie Bullock really have to step it up for this team to succeed, as backcourt play ultimately is what wins the NCAA Tournament, and though Bullock is second on the team at 12.7 points per game, both definitely have room for improvement, and Head Coach Roy Williams knows it. It would also help if someone like F Joel James could add to the bulk of this team on the inside. Aside from McAdoo and F Brice Johnson, there isn’t much depth on the inside, something that has been a staple of the Carolina program for years and years under Williams’ direction.

Meanwhile, this is the year for the Hoosiers to officially get back to prominence. They reached the Sweet 16 last year, but they have arguably the most talented team in the nation ready to go this year for Head Coach Tom Crean. There have been some trips along the way, namely a near miss to the Georgetown Hoyas last week at the Barclays Classic, but the squad is still unbeaten, still only has one failed attempt at a cover, and still is the No. 1 team in the land. F Cody Zeller is going to be worth a whole heck of a lot of money one day soon, but for now, he is tearing it up for the Hoosiers. He’s stuffing the stat sheet at this point, shooting 64.0 percent from the field and averaging 15.2 points, 7.7 boards, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, and he’s doing all of that in just 27 minutes per game as well. But the rest of the core of this team, F Christian Watford, G Jordan Hulls, G Victor Oladipo, and F Will Sheehey are all monsters, and they can all really light it up when given the chance. This is a team that can play defense and win a 56-50 game, or it can fly and win 95-90 if it has to as well.

North Carolina might be doing well against teams out of the Big Ten, but it hasn’t faced a challenge like this one all year long. The Hoosiers are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games played here at Assembly Hall, and we think that they are going to put away the Tar Heels with little muss or fuss on Tuesday night. Indiana 79 – North Carolina 64
