The college football season just got very interesting. After Auburn beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, the door is left wide open for the Ohio State Buckeyes to play in the National Championship.  After a narrow win over Michigan, the Buckeyes can move up the polls, but they have no time to rest as they play against Michigan State this week.

Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan State Spartans Preview

The college football odds will be close as this will be a game between two evenly matched teams. The Buckeyes have managed to stay undefeated but will face their toughest test this weekend.

In short the game between these two teams becomes a battle for the Roses among other things. Ohio State may be in line for a spot in the BCS title game, which also happens to be in Pasadena. And that could mean MSU in the Rose Bowl, win or lose in the Big Ten title game. The Spartans have been winning with lesser known athletes.  Perhaps the biggest compliment goes to the coaching staff and overachieving student athletes. Unlike the national championship teams and other conference champions, this team’s best players are 3-star recruits while the best in class have 5-star athletes. Darqueze Dennard from Dry Branch Georgia was not recruited by a big time program – except Michigan State. He has become the signature cornerback All-American on this great defensive team, likely to play on Sundays. Now those 3-stars will face a bunch of 5-stars on the Ohio State Buckeye football roster.

The latest college football betting trends reveal some interesting angles leading up to kickoff of this Big ten matchup. Ohio State is 8-1 straight up in its last 9 games when playing Michigan State and the total has gone under in 4 of Ohio State’s last 5 games when playing Michigan State.

The total has gone under in 5 of Michigan State’s last 6 games overall, but the total has gone over in 5 of Ohio State’s last 7 games overall. Ohio State is 5-0 straight up in its last 5 games but they are just 2-4 against the spread (ATS) in its last 6 games. Michigan State is 5-0 straight up in its last 5 games overall and will be eager to give the Buckeyes their first loss of the season.
