Since getting destroyed in their first two games of the season, the Buffalo Bulls have run the table and look the part of the best team in the MAC. They’ll try to prove it at home against another solid team, the Ohio Bobcats in NCAA football betting action on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats were amongst the preseason favorites in the MAC this year, and they have lived up to that billing at 6-2. They have been pouring it on of late, beating up teams left and right. The one snafu though, was a 26-23 loss at home against the Central Michigan Chippewas, a game that came out of nowhere as 20-point favorites. Keep a really close eye on WR Donte Foster in this one. He is the leading receiver on the team with 50 catches, which is accounting for nearly a third of the completions from QB Tyler Tettleton. WR Chase Cochran is averaging over 22 yards a reception as well. RB Beau Blankenship can be explosive in his ways, but he just hasn’t shown that spunk so far this season. He and Tettleton were a lethal combination last year, and though both have been okay and put up reasonable numbers, they aren’t the types of numbers you would expect out of the preseason favorites to compete with the Northern Illinois Huskies atop the MAC.
The Bulls really have come out of nowhere this year. They have six wins on the season, none of which are really all that impressive, but what might be the most notable part is the fact that those two losses which looked so bad at the start of the year came against the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Baylor Bears, who are both still undefeated and still ranked in the Top 5 in America. The offense has scored at least 33 points in five straight games, each of which have resulted in covers. This is the last home game of the year at the University of Buffalo Stadium, and that is going to hit home as well. It has been a remarkable season for RB Brandon Oliver, who has 874 yards on 180 carries. He really has made the difference for the team, as there aren’t all that many great options in the passing game. QB Joe Licata has completed just over 60% of his passes this year with 14 TDs and four picks, and he has proven to be a big upgrade over the now benched QB Alex Zordich.
UB really has the feel of the better team in this game, though we do know that Ohio has a great squad as well. The oddsmakers don’t often make mistakes, and this doesn’t figure to be a mistake either. The Bulls are probably going to win this game by at least a full touchdown.
