No. 2 Oregon Ducks vs. No. 16 Washington Huskies
Saturday, Oct. 12, 4 p.m. (ET)
Television: FOX Sports 1
NCAAF Betting Odds: VietBet
Pointspread: Oregon -14
Total Line: 75.5
Oregon has rolled through its first five games by a combined score of 296-59 to open the season a perfect 5-0 both straight-up and against the spread. The total has gone OVER in four of these games with the closing line set at 60 or higher for all five contests. This speaks to the explosive power of the Ducks’ offense considering the defense has not allowed more than 16 points in any one game.
These numbers are extremely impressive, but you also have to take into consideration the quality of the opponents that Oregon has faced. The toughest team on the list was probably Tennessee, which is currently 3-3 on the year. None the less, the Huskies will have their hand full trying to slow down a rushing attack that is averaging 335.8 yards a game. Byron Marshall is the Ducks’ leading rusher with 448 yards, but quarterback Marcus Mariota has added 338 yards with his legs to 1,358 yards passing the ball.
The main thing in Washington’s favor heading into this showdown is last week’s heart-breaking 31-28 loss to No. 5 Stanford as a nine-point underdog on the road. Assuming they can quickly get this loss out of their system, the Huskies now know they can hang tough with the big boys in the Pac-12. This was their first SU loss in five games and they are also 4-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in three of the five games.
The key to Washington keeping this game close will be another big day from Keith Price. Despite playing with a banged-up thumb, he threw for 350 yards and two touchdowns while completing 68.8 percent of his 48 attempts. The Huskies’ defense also did a great job keeping Stanford in check by holding the Cardinal to a total of just 279 yards of total offense.

This will be Oregon’s first real test of the season and it does not help that it faces it on the road in a very tough place to win a game. The Huskies have the fire power on offense to hang with the Ducks in this matchup and the final score should come pretty close to the inflated 75.5-point total line. I would still stay away from the total in this game, but the free pick is with the Huskies and the 14 points as they find a way to throw a legitimate scare into one of the top teams in the nation.
