On Thursday in NBA betting action two Western Conference contenders will collide when the Golden State Warriors play host to the Houston Rockets at 10:30 ET on TNT inside Oracle Arena in Oakland. Both teams come in having registered big road wins in their last outing.
The Rockets pinned a huge blowout on the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night in a 134-108 laugher at the Staples Center. Houston C Dwight Howard made his triumphant return to the bright lights of Hollywood and he didn’t disappoint as he scored 20 points while grabbing 13 boards, he also had two steals in three blocks in the win. The addition of Howard and G James Harden has made the Rockets a legitimate contender as they currently sit No. 3 in the Western Conference with a 37-17 SU record. It has been a great year for Houston on the road as it is 15-10 SU and 13-12 ATS in those games. In their last trip to Oakland, the Rockets were able to get past the Warriors 116-112 behind 26 points and nine assists from Harden as Howard added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Houston’s roster should be relatively rested after Wednesday’s game where most of the starters were on the bench midway through the third quarter in Los Angeles. The Rockets used an 18-of-34 performance from behind the three point line against the Lakers and they will need to continue that in this game.
The Warriors were on the road themselves on Wednesday as they pulled out a 101-92 win over the Sacramento Kings. Golden State F David Lee led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds for yet another double-double. Lee gives this Warriors team a great inside presence that complements the outside prowess of G Stephen Curry who added 13 points and eight assists against the Kings. Golden State was perhaps a bit rusty coming off the All-Star break it made just 3-of-19 attempts from three point range on Wednesday. The Warriors will have to get that part of their game going to stay close with the Rockets in this game. This team will hope to get the services of C Andrew Bogut back for this game as he has been nursing a shoulder injury and missed the last five games, his status is questionable for Thursday. The Warriors are just 10-14-2 ATS on their home floor this season, but they are 4-2-1 ATS in their L/7 home games. This team that sits seventh in the conference standings at 32-22 SU will need to win games like this down the stretch as they try to secure a spot in the playoffs.
The Rockets came out extremely hot against the Lakers and should have the fresher squad in this game. We expect to see Harden and Howard once again lead the way for the Rockets who have been a tough out for everyone on the road this season. Look for a high scoring battle in this game with Houston coming out on top again as it has in its L/4 road contests. Houston 124 – Golden State 118
