An American League West match-up will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the San Francisco Giants face the Atlanta Braves Saturday night at 10:05 ET at Turner Field on Fox Sports Network. This Saturday night game will be the second in a three game series between these two teams with the Giants leading the series 1-0 so far.
The Giants got a 2-1 win over the Braves in the opener of this series for a seventh victory in their L/8 games. Center fielder Angel Pagan and right fielder Michael Morse both hit solo homeruns to provide all the offense that was needed to get the win. Pitcher Tim Lincecum ran his record to 2-1 by going 6.0 innings giving up six hits and just one run for a quality start. Sergio Romo was credited with his eighth save of the season as he forced the Braves to strand a runner in the ninth inning. Right hander Ryan Vogelsong will get the call to the mound on Saturday as he is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 23.1 innings of work. In his last start against the Cleveland Indians he threw 7.0 strong innings striking out six and allowing no runs, but was the victim of very little support in a 4-1 loss. The Giants have one of the better pitching staffs in the league and they give up just 3.16 runs per game.
The Braves took their fourth straight loss in Friday’s game and will try to turn things around on Saturday. Right fielder Jason Heyward was 3-for-5 at the plate and had nothing to show for it in the series opener. While the only RBI in the game went to Freddie Freeman who knocked in Gerald Laird in the fifth inning. Pitcher Mike Minor went 6.0 innings allowing seven hits and two runs as he took the loss. On Saturday it will be Julio Teheran taking the mound for Atlanta as he brings a 2-1 record and a 1.47 ERA into this game. Teheran has been outstanding in his L/2 starts giving up just one run and eight hits in 15.0 innings pitched. Justin Upton is off to a fast start for Atlanta with eight homeruns and carrying a .313 batting average. The offense has struggled mightily for the Braves putting up just 3.46 runs per game ranking them 28th in the league. They will definitely have to put up more runs than that to get a win on Saturday to snap their losing streak.
The Giants are extremely hot right now in this tale of teams going in different directions. We do expect a nice outing from Teheran who has been awesome of late, but it won’t be enough to get a win over this group from San Francisco. The ‘under’ is 11-3-1 in the Giants L/15 overall and that is why we predict a low scoring game in this pitcher’s duel that they will win in Atlanta.
