NFL Pick: Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams
Monday, Oct. 28, 8:30 p.m. (ET)
NFL Betting Odds: VietBet
Pointspread: Seattle -12.5
Total Line: 42.5
Seattle began the season as one of the top favorites to win the NFC and it has lived up to all the hype with a 6-1 straight-up start that has it a game ahead of San Francisco in the West. It has also been a profitable team to wager on with a 5-2 record against the spread. The total has gone OVER in four of its last five games. The Seahawks will be well rested for their second-straight division matchup after beating Arizona 34-22 last Thursday as 4.5-point road favorites.
The solid start in Seattle has been a total team effort. Russell Wilson continues to play at a high level after a spectacular rookie campaign and behind Marshawn Lynch the ground game is ranked second in the NFL with an average of 154.4 yards a contest. What really makes this team one of the best in the entire league is a shutdown defense that is holding opponents to an average of 282.1 yards (ranked second) and 16.6 points a game (ranked third).
The Rams are off to a respectable 3-4 SU start but they have only be able to cover in two of their first seven games. Last Sunday they got hammered by Carolina 30-15 as 7.5-point road underdogs. The total went OVER the 42-point closing line and it has now gone OVER in their last four games. St. Louis is averaging 22.3 points a game and its defense is allowing 26.3 points a game to its opponents.
St. Louis would have had a tough time keeping this game close even though it is playing at home, but with quarterback Sam Bradford lost for the season with a torn ACL, it will be next to impossible. The Rams will have to turn to eight-year journeyman Kellen Clemens as their starter for Monday night with Brady Quinn waiting in the wings as his backup. The last time Clemens started a regular season game was in 2011 and he has thrown a total of just seven passes in the last two seasons.
Free NFL Pick
The line for this game opened at 11 and it could hit 14 by the time these two NFC West foes kick things off on Monday night, but do not be afraid to lay the current 12.5 points and follow the money in this one. The free NFL pick would have been on Seattle even with Bradford in the lineup, so with Clemens at the helm this is a gift.
