Pointspread: Seattle -2.5
Total Line: 42.5
Most betting experts expect Seattle to push San Francisco all the way to Week 17 of the regular season for the NFC West Division title this season and quite a few have this team going all the way to the Super Bowl. If the Seahawks’ first two preseason games are any indication of how they will play in the regular season, I would have to agree that this team is a pretty good bet to go all the way this year.
In Week 1, Seattle hammered San Diego 31-10 on the road as a three-point favorite and last week it ran all over Denver 40-10 as a 5.5-point home favorite. The total went OVER in both games. We should get a chance to see most of the starters play into the second half of this game which could spell bad news for Green Bay. The Seahawks have looked sharp in every phase of the game including special teams with a kick returned for a touchdown against Denver. They also scored on a 106-yard fumble return to put that game away.
The preseason has been a bag of mixed results for Green Bay so far. It was shutout by Arizona 17-0 in Week 1 as a two-point favorite at home, but bounced back with a 19-7 victory over St. Louis as a four-point road underdog this past Saturday. There is probably no real reason for concern, but this is hardly what we would expect from the fifth-highest scoring team in the NFL last season.
You cannot pin the blame on Aaron Rodgers considering he has thrown a total of 17 passes and completed 13 for 196 yards. The Packers drafted two running backs this past spring to try and revitalize a rushing attack that was ranked 20th in the NFL last year. So far, Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin have combined for 63 yards on 17 attempts with Lacy averaging five yards a carry. Tight end Jeremichael Finley has looked sharp so far with five receptions for 85 yards.
Free NFL Pick
Considering that teams usually use the third preseason game to gauge just how ready they are to start the regular season, there could be some sense of urgency in Green Bay especially as a rare underdog at Lambeau Field. Seattle has looked good so far, but the free NFL pick for this matchup is the Packers plus the 2.5 points at home.
