The Chick-fil-A Bowl has developed a reputation over the last few years of being one of the best bowl games before New Year’s Day. That continues this year with a matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Clemson Tigers. LSU was here four years ago, and they laid a 38-3 beat down on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from the ACC. Can LSU beat up on another ACC opponent in this year’s Chick-fil-A Bowl?
The USC Trojans started the season at the top of the polls, but the amazing play of Alabama has bumped them back to number two. USC has showed their offensive firepower in both of their first two victories this year. Stanford lost their star quarterback, and there are a lot of questions about how good this team can be in 2012. The Cardinal host the Trojans this weekend in a huge PAC 12 Conference matchup.
Matt Barkley came into the season as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner and he hasn’t done anything to hurt that status in his first two games.
The Texas Longhorns are bouncing back from their brutal season a couple years ago. Texas went 8-5 last year, and the Longhorns have been impressive in consecutive wins to start the 2012 season. Mississippi has a new coach in Hugh Freeze. The Rebels have started the season 2-0, but it has been against subpar competition. This is the team’s first real test of the 2012 season.
Texas has primarily gone with David Ash as their quarterback this year. Case McCoy has seen limited action as well, but it seems the coaches are most comfortable with Ash under center.
