C Dwight Howard is going to be on full display on Wednesday night in Big D, where he makes his first appearance against the Dallas Mavericks since spurning them in the offseason in favor of going to his current team, the Houston Rockets in NBA free agency.
The last few spots in the Western Conference playoffs are really the only ones up for grabs this late in the season, and two of the teams that are going to try to beat the NBA odds and get into the dance will meet on Tuesday night, as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks.
The Dallas Mavericks are only two games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They have won 7 of their last 10 games, but time is running out on them in their quest to get into the playoffs. The Los Angeles Clippers are fourth in the standings, but they are in a three-way battle for third with Denver and Memphis.
The Nets find themselves in the middle of the playoff pack in the Eastern Conference with an overall record of 39-28 straight-up that has them holding down the fourth spot in the standings. They are 5-2 both SU and against the spread in their last seven games and the total has gone OVER in their last four.
Dallas continues to battle to stay in the playoff race in the Western Conference with a four-game winning streak that has it three games in back of the Lakers for the eighth and final spot. The impressive part of this current run is that the last three wins came on the road where the Mavericks are just 13-21 straight-up this season. They are 30-33 SU overall but a profitable 37-26 against the spread.
The Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors are both hoping to get into the playoffs in the Western Conference, and the two will meet at Oracle Arena for NBA betting action on Thursday night.
San Antonio has reeled-off six straight victories to move into a tie atop the Western Conference with an overall record of 34-11 which includes a solid 15-9 record on the road. The Spurs have not been nearly as good to wager on lately with a 3-6 record against the spread in their last nine games, but they are still 25-19-1 ATS overall. Their record on the road ATS is 13-11 and the total has stayed UNDER in eight of their last 10 games.
The Dallas Mavericks are one of the biggest disappointments of the NBA season thus far. Dallas sits at just 13-22 on the year. They have lost nine of their last ten games. On the other side, the Los Angeles Clippers have the best record in the league. It seems like the Clippers are ready to take that next step and be a true contender in the playoffs this year.
Dallas will be coming off an extended Holiday break after getting blown-out 129-91 by San Antonio this past Sunday as an 11-point road underdog. It was the Mavericks third loss in a row and they are now 12-16 straight-up on the year. They are 2-4 against the spread in their last six games to fall to 13-15 ATS overall. The total has gone OVER in four of their last five outings.
For just the third time since playing in the 2011 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat are going to renew ties in NBA betting action, and it all takes place on Thursday night on TNT in the second half of the NBA doubleheader.
