The Houston Rockets will try to avoid digging a 2-0 hole in their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Houston was dominated 120-91 by Oklahoma City in Game One. The Rockets shot only 36 percent, and they were never really in the game. Will this one be any closer or will the Thunder roll to another victory?
G James Harden is back! He is going to be guiding his Houston Rockets into NBA betting action against the team that traded him in the offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Game 1 is the final game of the opening weekend of the playoffs, and it tips on Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Houston has already clinched a spot in this season’s Western Conference playoffs, but a victory in its regular-season finale on Wednesday night would lock-up seventh-place in the standings as well as possibly send the Lakers packing for the year if Utah beats Memphis earlier in the night. The Rockets’ current form to pull off this feat has not been all that solid down the stretch with a 2-3 straight-up (1-4 against the spread) record in their last five games. Two nights after beating the Raptors 125-118, Golden State (35-27) had its hands full with the lowly Kings before escaping with an 87-83 win Wednesday. Thompson scored a team-high 20, including the go-ahead 3 with 7.5 seconds to play for the Warriors, who were limited to 36.0 percent shooting — their worst mark in a win since February 2003.
Denver has now won seven of its last nine games straight-up after this past Sunday’s 121-118 overtime victory over Oklahoma City as a one-point underdog at home. Its overall record is 25-18 and it has gone a profitable 24-19 against the spread. Most of the Nuggets’ problems this season have come on the road where they are 9-15 SU but they are still an even 12-12 ATS. The total went well OVER the 208.5-point total line against the Thunder and it has gone OVER in seven of their last eight games.
Things just aren’t getting any better for the Los Angeles Lakers. Steve Nash’s return was supposed to be the catalyst for the team, but that hasn’t worked out. The latest breaking news is that both Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol are now out with injuries. The two big men had been struggling, but the Lakers can’t afford to be without these guys.
Houston fell below .500 on the year with Sunday’s 103-96 loss to Toronto as a four-point road favorite. It is now 11-12 straight-up and 10-12-1 against the spread. The total stayed UNDER the 200.5-point line and has now stayed UNDER in five of its last seven games. The Rockets also fell to 2-7 SU and 2-6-1 ATS on the road this season.
The Houston Rockets brought a lot of excitement to the team by signing Jeremy Lin and acquiring James Harden right before the season. Houston started out the season pretty well, but they have lost three of their last four games. The Boston Celtics have had a bit of an up and down start, but they currently sit at 12-9 on the year.
Houston brings a three-game winning streak into this matchup including a 117-101 victory over Toronto on Tuesday night as a six-point home favorite. The win evened its overall record to 7-7 straight-up and 7-6-1 against the spread. The total has gone OVER in six of its last eight games. The Rockets now have to go on the road where they are just 2-4 SU and 2-3-1 ATS.
