As the No.3 seed in the Eastern Conference, Indiana has very quietly eliminated Atlanta from the playoffs in six games in the opening round and opened-up a one game lead in the conference semifinals with a 102-95 victory over New York as a five-point road underdog in Sunday’s Game 1 of this best-of-seven series. The Pacers are 5-2 against the spread and the total has gone OVER in five of their first seven postseason games.

The Indiana Pacers have jumped out to a 2-0 lead in this series. The pressure is on Atlanta in Game Three. The series is essentially over if they are beaten in this one, so this is almost a win or go home game for the Hawks. They’ll have to find a way to slow down the Pacers offense, which has been firing on all cylinders in this series so far. Let’s take a closer look at Game Three.
Indiana comes into its final two games of the regular season with nothing on the line as far as playoff position. Its 1-4 straight-up (0-5 against the spread) record down the stretch helped ensure it would remain in the No.3 spot in the Eastern Conference and this past Sunday’s 90-80 loss to No.2 New York as a 3.5-point road underdog sealed the deal.
Indiana brings a four-game winning streak into this matchup including a 112-104 victory over Phoenix this past Saturday as a 10.5-point favorite on the road. The Indiana Pacers are now 47-27 straight-up (41-33 against the spread) on the year and 18-19 SU (19-18 ATS) on the road.
Over the past few weeks the Lakers have exhausted a great deal of energy to work themselves back in the playoff picture in the Western Conference with a 9-2 straight record in their last 11 games, but they will be severely tested to stay in that eighth and final spot after losing Kobe Bryant with an ankle injury in a tough 96-92 road loss to Atlanta as 3.5-point favorites this past Wednesday night.

Chicago comes into this huge Central Division showdown a bit short-handed with Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrick already out of the lineup and Carlos Boozer listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. If the Bulls are going to have shot at holding on to their slim lead over Indiana, they will need another big defensive effort from a team that is ranked third in the NBA in points allowed; giving-up an average of 90.6 points a game.
Miami may only be 11-10 straight-up (9-12 against the spread) on the road this season, but it got its record over .500 in impressive fashion with a 105-85 beatdown of Brooklyn this past Wednesday night as a 2.5-point road favorite. The Heat are now 29-13 SU on the year and 21-21 ATS. The total stayed UNDER the 191 line against the Nets after it had gone OVER in five of their previous seven games.
The Utah Jazz are always one of the best home teams in the NBA. Utah has started out the season 14-4 on their home floor. The Indiana Pacers started the year slowly, but they have made a strong push of late thanks to their league leading defense. Indiana has won 7 of their last 10 games overall. Can the Pacers win with their defense in a very tough environment at Energy Solutions Arena?
