Indiana brings a four-game winning streak into this matchup including a 112-104 victory over Phoenix this past Saturday as a 10.5-point favorite on the road. It was its third-straight road victory as part of four-game Western Conference swing. The Indiana Pacers are now 47-27 straight-up (41-33 against the spread) on the year and 18-19 SU (19-18 ATS) on the road.
The Dallas Mavericks are only two games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They have won 7 of their last 10 games, but time is running out on them in their quest to get into the playoffs. The Los Angeles Clippers are fourth in the standings, but they are in a three-way battle for third with Denver and Memphis.
The New York Knicks jumped out to a big lead in the Atlantic Division standings early this year, but their lead has been slowly evaporating little by little. Brooklyn and Boston are right there, and there is no more margins for error for the Knicks. The Clippers sit in the fourth spot in the Western Conference, but they are only 4.5 games back of the first place Spurs.
The Clippers head into this matchup fresh off Wednesday night’s 117-101 romp over Milwaukee as 10-point home favorites. They have now won five of their last six games to improve to 43-19 straight-up overall and 35-27 against the spread. Los Angeles now heads back on the road where it is solid 20-12 SU on the year and 17-15 ATS.
Sunday afternoon could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals at the Staples Center, where the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Los Angeles Clippers in NBA betting action.
It’s a battle between two first place teams tonight in Los Angeles as the San Antonio Spurs travel to “Lob City” to take on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. The Spurs swept the Clippers out of the playoffs last year but the Clippers have certainly had the Spurs numbers so far this season. The Clips have taken both meetings earlier this year.
The final game of the first half of the NBA betting campaign takes place at Staples Center on Thursday, where the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers will send the league into its All-Star Break.
The Clippers have been treading water during their current eight-game road trip with a 2-3 record in the first five games. This is actually an impressive performance considering that Chris Paul continues to recover from a bruised knee cap and Blake Griffin has missed the last two games due to a strained hamstring. Both players remain questionable for Friday night’s game.
Some have been expecting the Clippers to hit a tough patch this year, but they just keep winning. Chris Paul’s bruised kneecap is a little bit of a concern, but he should be back in the lineup soon. He is listed as doubtful for this game. The Phoenix Suns are now under Interim Coach Lindsay Hunter’s guidance. Can the Clippers keep pace near the top of the Western Conference standings or will the Suns pull off a surprise?
The Dallas Mavericks are one of the biggest disappointments of the NBA season thus far. Dallas sits at just 13-22 on the year. They have lost nine of their last ten games. On the other side, the Los Angeles Clippers have the best record in the league. It seems like the Clippers are ready to take that next step and be a true contender in the playoffs this year.
