Here at Bang the Book, we are always keeping our eyes open for the best games to bet on each and every week. Of all of the games on the docket for the third week of the bowl season, the one we are zeroing in on is the Outback Bowl, where the LSU Tigers take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 1st.
The Iowa Hawkeyes surprised most by winning eight games this season. They can cap off their successful campaign in a big time way on New Year’s Day if they can bust the LSU Tigers in the 2014 Outback Bowl in Tampa Bay.
LSU is very quietly positioning itself for a run at Alabama for the SEC West Division title and possible berth in the national title game. It is off to a 4-0 straight-up start (2-2 against the spread) with victories over TCU and Auburn as part of its early season resume. The total has gone OVER in all four of the Tigers’ games this season behind an offense that is averaging 43.3 points a game.
Though the TCU Horned Frogs are now in the Big XII, their opening game of the season in college football betting action against the LSU Tigers still seems to feel a bit like David vs. Goliath. We’ll see what the case turns out to be on Saturday night at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Saturday night at 9:00 p.m.
If you are into the practice of college football betting at BetAnySports, you know that sometimes programs are up, and sometimes they are down. Both of these teams hope to turn things around with a strong start in 2013.
To say that the SEC has been the dominant conference in college football for the last few years is a major understatement. The SEC has collected seven straight national titles, and it doesn’t look ready to stop that streak anytime soon. This conference is constantly loaded with top notch talent, and this year appears to be no different.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl has developed a reputation over the last few years of being one of the best bowl games before New Year’s Day. That continues this year with a matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Clemson Tigers. LSU was here four years ago, and they laid a 38-3 beat down on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from the ACC. Can LSU beat up on another ACC opponent in this year’s Chick-fil-A Bowl?
Before the season, many expected this to be a game that would play a role in deciding the national champion. As it turns out, Arkansas has completely fallen apart this year, and LSU lost to both Florida and Alabama in SEC play. The game doesn’t mean as much nationally, but these teams still hate each other and you can expect both teams to fight very hard for a victory.
Last year, it was the “Game of the Century” the first time around when the LSU Tigers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide. The second time around, the game had all of the pomp and circumstance surrounding one of the biggest showdowns ever, but the 21-0 blowout was never really all that close. Now, it’s Round 3 over the course of the last 12 months for these two teams, and the action for college football betting fans is as good as it will ever be on Saturday.
