The Chick-fil-A Bowl has developed a reputation over the last few years of being one of the best bowl games before New Year’s Day. That continues this year with a matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Clemson Tigers. LSU was here four years ago, and they laid a 38-3 beat down on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from the ACC. Can LSU beat up on another ACC opponent in this year’s Chick-fil-A Bowl?

South Carolina vaulted all the way to No.3 in the latest AP poll with its impressive 35-7 thrashing of then-No.5 Georgia as a one-point home favorite. The Gamecocks are now a perfect 6-0 straight-up and a very profitable 5-1 against the spread. The total stayed UNDER against the Bulldogs with a closing line of 54.5 and has now stayed UNDER in two of their last three games.

LSU is a perfect 5-0 straight-up (2-3 against the spread) on the year, but fell another spot in the latest AP poll after an uninspired 38-22 victory over a heavily outmatched Towson team that came into this game as 43-point underdogs on the road. The Tigers also failed to cover the week before as 18-point favorites on the road against Auburn in a tight 12-10 victory.

A pair of Tiger teams are going to be meeting up in a classic SEC West showdown that will surely have National Championship implications, as the Auburn Tigers host the LSU Tigers.

The Bayou Bengals are clearly the best of the Tigers in the SEC this year, and that should show on Saturday night at Jordan Hare Stadium. Yes, this is the first road game for QB Zach Mettenberger, but it isn’t the first road game for so many of these experienced defenders, who are clearly amongst the best in the nation.
