There is no doubt that San Antonio has been in championship form this postseason with series wins over Los Angeles (Lakers) and Golden State, but it has taken things up a notch or two in this series with a 3-0 stranglehold against the Grizzlies. This past Saturday, the Spurs erased an 18-point deficit to force overtime for the second-straight time.
The Memphis Grizzlies and the San Antonio Spurs are set to start the Western Conference Finals on Sunday afternoon, and they are going to get it on for the first time in NBA betting action on Sunday at the AT&T Center.
Oklahoma City snuck out with a win at home in Game One, but Memphis turned the tables and took Game Two on the road. Now, it is the Grizzlies who control home court through the rest of the series. Can Kevin Durant carry the Thunder to the Western Conference finals or will it be the Memphis Grizzlies making their first appearance there? Let’s take a look at Game Three.
Memphis extended its current winning streak to eight games with a 90-84 victory over Dallas this past Wednesday night as a 7.5-point favorite at home. It will try and keep it going on the road where it has gone 15-10 both straight-up and against the spread this season. The Grizzlies are now 38-18 SU overall and 32-23-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in their last four games.
Memphis has been shredding up Conference USA, so they’ll go out of conference to take on a pretty good Xavier Musketeers program in Cincinnati on Tuesday night. This is an interesting non-conference showdown for late February.
Any other year, the Arizona Wildcats (27-7) would probably be disappointed with a #5 seed in the NCAA tournament and a second-round matchup with the 12th-seeded Memphis Tigers (25-9) on Friday in the West Region after winning the Pac-10 Conference …
The last team to beat Memphis in Conference USA was UAB almost three years ago. The Tigers have won 54 league games since. The Tigers come into Thursday’s game ranked #5 having won 18 straight games. To keep that streak going they will have to beat a UAB team that hasn’t lost at home this season. “When we’re on the court, I’ve known and played against those guys,” UAB guard Robert Vaden said. “There’s going to be some bad blood. There’s going to be some trash talk and all that stuff.
Two teams looking to move above the .500 mark will meet Friday as Memphis hosts Louisville in a nationally televised game on ESPN. The Cardinals enter the game at 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big East after losing to Connecticut almost two weeks ago by a score of 26-21. Memphis has won three straight games after losing their first three of the season. Last week they defeated UAB 33-30.
The time is finally upon us. We have watched an entire season of college basketball. We watched great young freshmen make their mark in the game and great in conference play. We watched the great conference tournaments and feverishly filled out our brackets as the tournament seedings were announced.
The high scoring Memphis Tigers will try and play a fast paced game on Saturday while the UCLA Bruins will try and slow things down. It should be an interesting contrast in the second game of the Final Four.
