Chicago finds itself at a crossroads in this regular season showdown. On one hand, it is just a half a game behind Indiana for the lead in the Central Division, but on the other, it has gone 5-5 straight-up in its last 10 games. The Spurs are still without the services of both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, but they are 2-1 both straight-up and against the spread in the first three games of an extended road trip including a 111-86 rout of Brooklyn on Sunday as 2.5-point favorites. San Antonio is now 40-12 SU (29-21-2 ATS) overall and 18-10 SU (16-12 ATS) on the road. The total has gone OVER in five of its last eight games.
The Denver Nuggets have been playing some terrific basketball of late. Now, the big test for them is whether they can keep it up as they leave home. The Nuggets will play their last four games of the first half on the road, and it starts with this visit to Cleveland on Saturday night. The Cavaliers aren’t very good, but Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland offense has been piling up the points.
It is getting to be crunch time for the Lakers if they are going to have any shot at making the playoffs this season. At 22-26 straight-up, they are still 3.5 games out of the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference. LA comes into this matchup fresh off of back-to-back road victories over Minnesota and Detroit; however it is still just 5-5 SU in its last 10 games and 7-16 SU on the road this season. It is 19-28-1 against the spread and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games.
It has been a fairly steady downward spiral for Orlando this season with an overall record of 14-28 straight-up and a 20-22-1 record against the spread. Sunday night’s 104-102 loss to Detroit was its fifth straight and ninth in its last 11 games. The Magic are 6-13 SU (12-6-1 ATS) on the road and the total has gone OVER in eight of their last 11 games overall.
The Utah Jazz are always one of the best home teams in the NBA. Utah has started out the season 14-4 on their home floor. The Indiana Pacers started the year slowly, but they have made a strong push of late thanks to their league leading defense. Indiana has won 7 of their last 10 games overall. Can the Pacers win with their defense in a very tough environment at Energy Solutions Arena?
Denver has now won seven of its last nine games straight-up after this past Sunday’s 121-118 overtime victory over Oklahoma City as a one-point underdog at home. Its overall record is 25-18 and it has gone a profitable 24-19 against the spread. Most of the Nuggets’ problems this season have come on the road where they are 9-15 SU but they are still an even 12-12 ATS. The total went well OVER the 208.5-point total line against the Thunder and it has gone OVER in seven of their last eight games.
Houston fell below .500 on the year with Sunday’s 103-96 loss to Toronto as a four-point road favorite. It is now 11-12 straight-up and 10-12-1 against the spread. The total stayed UNDER the 200.5-point line and has now stayed UNDER in five of its last seven games. The Rockets also fell to 2-7 SU and 2-6-1 ATS on the road this season.
