Preview of the NFC East on the 2010 NFL betting lines.
The NFC Championship will host two unlikely opponents when the number 6 seeded Philadelphia Eagles travel to Phoenix to take on the number 5 seeded Arizona Cardinals. The game marks the first home playoff game for the Cardinals since 1947 and will give them the opportunity to earn their first ever Super Bowl trip.
Two NFC East rivals are scheduled to battle for the 3rd time this season when the Philadelphia Eagles travel to take on the New York Giants. Both earlier match-ups were decided by less than a touchdown with each time scoring a victory once. However, this game will be much bigger than the previous two battles considering the winner this time will move on to play in the NFC Championship.
The Philadelphia Eagles won 4 of their last 5 games to surge into the playoffs capping off the season with a huge 44-6 blowout over the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles captured the final wildcard spot in the NFC and travel to the Metrodome to battle the Vikings. Minnesota captured a big win over the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants in week 17 to seal the NFC North. The Vikings have also played well towards the end of the year winning 5 of their last 6 games down the stretch.
The final game of the regular season takes place this Sunday with a classic NFC East battle for playoff hopes. Week 17 promises to hold a number of exciting games with teams battling for postseason positions with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles game being no different. Despite a loss last week, Dallas is still one win away from sealing a playoff birth. Philadelphia actually controlled their own destiny a week ago, but a loss to the Redskins ruined the majority of their chances.
The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to continue their playoff push as they host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. The Eagles proved last week in their win against the Giants that they are still playoff contenders. “Anything can happen in the NFL, so you just have to make sure that you take care of your business and you can’t worry about really anything else,” head coach Andy Reid said.
The Philadelphia Eagles will try and save their season as they host the Arizona Cardinals on Thanksgiving night. Philadelphia is in desperate need of a victory if they hope to stay in the playoff race but it won’t be easy as they host Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles have played very poorly in recent weeks, especially quarterback Donovan McNabb who was benched last week for the first time in his career. McNabb will get the start though on Thursday.
The New York Giants could put some serious distance between themselves and the Philadelphia Eagles with a win on Sunday night. The Giants have looked every bit the part of Super Bowl champs this season going 7-1 but they get a tough test on Sunday at Philadelphia. The Eagles are considered serious playoff contenders and are actually favored against the Giants in this game.
The Washington Redskins were the overlooked team in the NFC East before the season began but after last week’s upset win over Dallas, they are starting to get respect. If they can win another road game in the division they would really establish themselves as serious playoff contenders.
The NBC game on Sunday night has the 1-2 Chicago Bears hosting the 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles come into the game banged up but quarterback Donovan McNabb and running back Brian Westbrook are both expected to play. Westbrook missed much of last week’s game and it showed as the Eagles only scored 15 points in their win over Pittsburgh.
