The 2013 Holiday Bowl pits a pair of teams that look nothing like one another against each other coming into the bowl season, as the Arizona State Sun Devils hope to avoid the embarrassment of losing to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

This year, UT will be facing the Texas Tech Red Raiders at home on the fourth Thursday of November and the last Thursday of the main portion of the college football schedule.
Texas Tech started the season in the shadows of all the contenders for the Big 12 crown, but eight weeks into the schedule it is a perfect 7-0 straight-up on the year and a profitable 5-2 against the spread. It is coming off a 37-27 victory over West Virginia this past Saturday as a 4.5-point road favorite with the total going OVER the 58-point closing line.
