Macthup: Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees
Date/Time: Wednesday, June 26, 7:05 p.m. (ET)
Money Line: Texas (+124) New York (-134)
Total Line: 9
Texas dropped the first of this three-game series by giving-up a solo shot home run in the ninth inning to fall 4-3 as a 119 road favorite. The total stayed UNDER the 7.5-run line. It is now 44-33 on the year and tied with Oakland for the lead in the AL West. The Rangers are 22-18 on the road this season.
This continues to be one of the best pitching staffs in the American League with a team ERA of 3.71, but Texas is also one of the top five hitting teams in the AL with a .260 team batting average. The only problem is that this production at the plate has not always translated to runs as it is ranked ninth in the league in scoring. The Rangers will send Justin Grimm to the mound as their starter for this game. The right-hander is 6-5 on the year with a 5.57 ERA. He will be making his first career start against New York.
The Yankees continue to keep pace with Boston in the AL East title race at 42-34 overall. Their 5-5 record over the last 10 games has been good enough to remain just 2.5 games out of first. New York has one of the better home records in the AL at 23-16 and the total has now stayed UNDER in four of its last six games.
This is another team that has benefitted from some solid pitching this season with a staff ERA of 3.76. Injuries have decimated New York’s lineup all season long and it has taken its toll with a team batting average of .239 and an average of just 3.91 runs a game. Andy Pettitte will get the start for the Yankees in this one. The left-hander has struggled in his last two starts with nine runs allowed and is now 5-5 overall with a 4.20 ERA. Lifetime, he is 6-6 against the Rangers with an ERA of 4.53.

With no clear edge for either team on the mound, the outcome of this game will come down to which team’s bats can produce the most runs. But teams have struggled as of late driving runs across the plate, but stick with the Yankees to once again carve out enough to win this game. Including last night’s contest, the home team in this series is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
