After 81 games it all comes down to one final chance for Utah to make it into this year’s NBA playoffs. It trails the Los Angeles Lakers by one game in the standings for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but a win in this game coupled with a Lakers’ loss to Houston on Wednesday night would land the Utah Jazz in the postseason based on a head-to-head tie-breaker.
They come into this matchup in excellent form with an 8-2 straight-up (6-4 against the spread) record in their last 10 games including a crucial 96-80 victory over Minnesota on Monday night as 4.5-point road favorites to keep their playoff chances alive. If Utah is going to have any shot at extending its season it will be up to Al Jefferson (17.8 points and 9.1 rebounds), Paul Millsap (14.7 points) and Mo Williams (13 points and 6.3 assists) to each play at the top of their game. Overall, the team is averaging 98.4 points while giving-up an average of 98.3 points a game.
We already know that Memphis will play the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs as the No.4 and 5 seeds in the West, but the outcome of this game will have a direct impact on which team gets the home-court advantage for the best-of-seven series. The Grizzlies are well aware that if they win on Wednesday night and the Clippers lose one of their last two games, then the first two games of the series will be at FedEx Arena as opposed to the Staples Center.
Memphis comes into this showdown in solid form as well with an 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS record in its last 10 games. Monday night’s 103-97 victory over Dallas as a 3.5-point road favorite went OVER the 187-point total after it had stayed UNDER in its previous eight games. It was just the second time in the Grizzlies’ last 10 games that they scored more than 100 points. If they are going to win this game it will once again be behind a defense that is ranked first in the NBA in points allowed; giving-up an average of just 89.5 points a game.

With so much on the line for both teams, this one should remain close all the way to the final buzzer. While in the end the Jazz may not come away with that one last SU victory that they needed so badly, they remain a solid bet to cover with the points.
