Pointspread: Green Bay-9
Total Line: 49.5
The Redskins are coming off a short week and a long Monday night against Philadelphia in which they lost their season opener 33-27 as three-point favorites at home. This game got out of hand early as Washington had no answer for Chip Kelly’s high octane offense that ran 53 plays while scoring 26 points in the first half. The total went well OVER the 51.5-point line.
The key to avoiding a 0-2 start will fall squarely on the shoulders of Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III. He showed major signs of rust after missing the entire preseason while rehabbing from offseason knee surgery. After a dreadful first half in which he was intercepted twice, he came around in the second half to finish the game with 329 yards and two touchdowns while completing just over 60 percent of his throws. The Redskins will also have to tighten things up on defense against another high scoring team. It was torched for 443 points of total offense against the Eagles including 263 yards on the ground.
Green Bay will also be trying to avoid a dreaded 0-2 start after losing to San Francisco 34-28 on opening day. It failed to cover as a five-point road underdog and the total went OVER the 47-point closing line. This remained a back-and-forth game with the Packers holding a four-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, but their defense folded down the stretch to lose by six.
You cannot pin this loss on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense after it racked-up 385 yards on one of the best defenses in the league. Rodgers looked sharp, completing 21-of-37 attempts for 333 yards and three touchdowns. The problem was a defense that allowed close to 500 yards of total offense including over 400 yards through the air. If RG III can quickly return to form, it could be another long day for this defense given the way it looked last week.

Both of these teams had their issues on opening day, but the one thing that they did do was put points on the board. I am not sure which team will cover in this matchup given such a generous spread, but the one thing I do know is that this game has a great shot at going OVER the total. The total has gone OVER in four of the Redskins’ last six games and in four of Green Bay’s last five.
