College Football Odds from BetDSI
Point Spread: Boise State -23
Two of the better teams out of the Mountain West are going to be taking each other on this coming Saturday night on the Smurf Turf, where college football betting fans will get a chance to see the Wyoming Cowboys take their best shot at the Boise State Broncos.
The Cowboys can flat out score, and that’s the one thing that we know about them. Save for the Utah Utes, there might not be another team in the country that isn’t going to make a bowl game that we wouldn’t want any part of. This team is scoring 33.6 points per game, and if the defense could accomplish much of anything, it would be a lot better team. WR Robert Herron and WR Dominic Rufran are both excellent receivers, while RB Shaun Wick is one of the top rushers in the MWC with 823 yards and nine TDs. It all comes and goes with QB Brett Smith, though. Smith is a dual threat quarterback, as he has 2,508 yards passing and 441 rushing yards with a total of 23 TDs against eight picks. Smith can really get going with his legs at times, and he looks like QB Jordan Lynch of the Northern Illinois Huskies out there. He needs some help in this one to beat Boise State though, and of late, his defense hasn’t been giving him any of that help.
The Broncos have had a relatively disappointing season, and it is clear that their time at the top challenging for BCS bowl bids is finished with. Head Coach Chris Petersen has to settle for having a great Mountain West team that is going to be right up there for league titles every season, and trips to the Las Vegas Bowl are about as good as Boise State will see. QB Grant Hedrick is coming off of the best game of his career against the Colorado State Rams in which he threw for five TDs without toss a pick. However, prior to that game, he was really killing this team, and we wonder why QB Nick Patti hasn’t been given a chance to strut his stuff for this club. QB Joe Southwick is out with shoulder problems that will probably cost him the rest of the season. That’s why this team has to rely so heavily on its rushing game. RB Jay Ajayi is one of the few 1,000-yard rushers in America at this point, as he has 1,008 yards and 12 trips to the end zone.
Boise State has only won one game this year by more than 22 points against FBS teams, and this doesn’t figure to be the second as we see it. The Broncos might need to hang 50 on the board to cover this game, and we don’t see that happening. Something around a 42-24 final score seems to be about right.
