The Knicks’ 120-99 victory over Washington this past Tuesday night as 8.5-point home favorites extended their current winning streak to 13 games. During this impressive run, they have gone an extremely profitable 12-1 against the spread with the total going OVER in five of the last eight games. New York’s lead over Indiana for the No.2 seed in the Eastern Conference now stands at 2.5 games with five games left on its regular season schedule.
New York has been able to score 100 or more points in nine of its last 10 games while holding teams below the century mark in 10 of 13 games during this streak. Overall, it is ranked 10th in the NBA in scoring with 100 points a game to complement a defense that is ranked eighth in points allowed; giving-up an average of 95.6 points on the other end of the court. The Knicks daily injury report remains littered with a number of nicked-up players, but Carmelo Anthony’s hot hand has been able to carry the team. He is averaging 28.6 points a game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field.
Chicago already stopped one extended winning streak this season when it ended Miami’s run at 27 games and would love nothing more than doing the same thing to New York on Thursday night. It comes into this showdown with a 3-4 straight-up (2-5 ATS) record in its last seven games after back-to-back losses to Detroit as a 4.5-point road favorite and Toronto as a 3.5-point favorite at home. The recent slide has the Bulls clinging to the fifth spot in the East standings with just a half game lead over Atlanta. They are 22-17 SU at home this season but a costly 12-27 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games.
Injuries have plagued this team all season long, but Chicago is literally limping into this game with Joakim Noah (foot) ruled out and Luol Deng (hip) still listed as questionable for Thursday night. Noah leads the team in rebounds with 11.4 and Deng is the team’s leading scorer with 16.7 points a game. The Bulls are already ranked second-to-last in the league in scoring with 92.8 points a game even with Deng in the lineup.

As much as you would like to believe that Chicago can muster up the effort to leave another high-profile winning streak dead in its tracks, it just does not have the necessary weapons to stop the red-hot Knicks even if Deng is able to go. Stick with New York to make it 14 in-a-row with a fairly easy win on the road.
